Difference Between Orthopedic And Regular Shoes

Understanding the Difference Between Medical Grade Orthopedic Shoes and Regular Shoes, and WHY they are Important!

Not all shoes are constructed alike!

It's understandable that sometimes you might be tempted to go to the store and simply get a famous footwear brand, like Nike for example, and think those will do well for you. However, not all shoes stores near you can provide you with the specialty footwear that you need to treat different foot conditions such as bunions, hammer toe, diabetic foot, plantar faciitis, heel spurs, heel pains, pain on the bottom of the foot, fallen arches, foot ulcers, numbness, neuropathy, etc.

Orthopedic footwear are designed to address these unique foot conditions.

Regular footwear are NOT designed to address any of these!

Look for shoes with these specific features:

Protective interior: made from soft materials; its stitching does not protrude or cause irritation.

Stretchable and non-binding uppers: conforms to the foot without undue pressure. Regular shoes often cause pressures that cause terrible irritations and eventually lead to bunions or hammertoes, and heel blisters.

Extra-depth: for a pressure-free environment and that can also accommodate orthotic inserts.

Deep Toe Box: allows for comfortable toe movement and avoids pressure in this area.

Cushioning and Lightweight Insoles: they facilitate mobility and stability while reducing impacts on the entire foot.

Built-in Orthotic Insoles: they provide arch support, reduce pressure on the bottom of the foot while providing excellent cushioning.
