What to do about Bunions? (and other foot deformities)
Painful bunions interfere with walking and exercising, but you can keep them from getting worse! The first step is to relieve the pressure by wearing the right kind of shoe:
- Shoes should have a wide, supportive sole and enough room in the toe box to accommodate the bunion.
- Shoes should have a sturdy heel counter to keep the heel of the foot snugly in place and in proper alignment.
- Some shoes have a moldable toe box area to make room for the bunion.
- Keep heels low (no higher than one inch).
