Why Medical Grade Orthopedic Shoes are Important to Your Foot Health and Overall Well-Being.

What are Orthopedic Shoes?

They are specifically designed shoes to support or accommodate the mechanics and structure of the foot, ankle, leg, hip and back and are equipped with several medically beneficial features and functions that separate them from everyday footwear. They can be custom-made or non-custom (off-the-shelf) and are also known at Therapeutic Footwear. Additionally, they are regulated by Health Canada and classified as a Class I Medical Device.

Where can I buy Medical Grade Orthopedic Shoes?

Medical Grade Orthopedic Shoes are ONLY sold through Professional and Specialty Retailers.

Not all footwear is constructed alike!  Orthopedic footwear is designed to address a number of foot conditions: fallen arches, high arches, diabetes, skin breakdown, corns, calluses, bunions, foot ulcers, numbness, foot deformities, hammer toes, claw toes, neuropathy (and so much more).

Regular or standard off-the-shelf footwear simply do NOT take these conditions into account, and certainly do NOT HELP treat them. If you suffer from any kind of foot issue, you should be wearing Orthopedic Footwear!

There are several KEY FEATURES to look for when selecting Medical Grade Orthopedic Footwear:

Seamless & Protective Interior: made from soft materials. Stitching does not protrude or cause irritation on the foot surface.

Stretchable & Non-Binding Uppers: conforms to the foot without undue pressure. Regular shoes often cause pressure and irritations that can eventually lead to bunions or hammertoes, and heel blisters.

Extra-Depth & Wide Opening: for a pressure-free environment and that can accommodate orthotic inserts (off-the-shelf or custom). A wide opening makes it easier and safer to insert and remove the foot in and out the shoe.

Wide and Deep Toe Box: allows for comfortable toe movement and avoids pressure in this area.

Firm & Supportive Heel: to add stability and support the rear of the foot, avoiding foot-roll and imbalance.

Well Cushioned and Strong Outsole & Midsole: with defined flex points and impact absorption properties for added comfort, mobility, stability while reducing impact on the entire foot and helping to prevent trips and falls.

Removable Insoles and spacers: to accommodate orthotics, diabetics inserts, and custom orthotics.
