What to do when your feet aren't the same size?

What to do when you have two differently sized feet, how do you choose the appropriate footwear?

Did you know that most people have two differently sized feet?

Usually, the difference is only about a half-size difference, therefore a person simply needs to buy the size that fits the larger/longer foot.

Some individuals, however, experience a FULL SIZE difference in their feet, which can occur naturally or can be a consequence of a medical condition. This is a different situation, and the footwear size should be chosen based on the longer or wider of the two feet to avoid any undue pressure points. The smaller foot ends up with a little bit of extra room which can be compensated by adding inserts to help fill the gap, wearing a thicker sock or an extra sock on that side.

When the difference in width or size is GREATER than ONE SIZE or WIDTH, the ideal solution is to buy two pairs of shoes in different sizes or width, to fit each foot size. This is also known as a SPLIT PAIRS.

TIP: Every footwear manufacturer has its own specific standards regarding measurement and size selection, therefore a specific size from one brand of footwear may be a totally different size with another brand. Additionally, each style of shoe from the same brand may have different sizing charts.  It’s important to always have both of your feet measured each visit (the size of a foot can change with time) and compare it with each manufacturer's sizing charts for each style.
